I believe that learning languages should not not only be educational, it should also be interesting and fun. It is never easy to learn a foreign language and as one grows older, the ability to learn it decreases.
As one gets older, it becomes harder to memorize phrases and even more so, to remember when they're appropriate to use. So this has to be taken into consideration as well when teaching someone a foreign language.
I am fluent in both English and Tagalog, both in its spoken and written form. As a native of my country the Philippines, I can also offer lessons on how to conduct one's self in my country. I can educate people who want to visit the country as to the social etiquette and taboos. If you only wish to learn enough to be able to converse with Filipinos, then I can adjust lessons according to your needs. If you wish to be really profficient especially grammatically , then I will cater to your needs.
A New Yorker came to my hometown just this month in the hopes of finding his Filipino relatives. I was his contact here as he virtually just hopped on a plane and therefore had no idea where to go and how to go about looking for his family. I am pleased to say we found his relatives in a matter of hours and he spent the rest of his stay with them.
As he soon found out, it is always good to be able to speak even a smattering of Tagalog when coming to visit. Not only were his relatives surprised and delighted, he had a lot of fun learning the phrases too.

Program Description

Lessons will include developing conversationa l skills in your chosen language. You will learn the basics; from asking directions, to ordering food, and even romantic expressions to say to your Filipina fiance.
Although formal tests will not be given, an informal test will be given to judge the level of your language skills.

Teaching Experience

I have taught on an unofficial basis to several foreigners who came to the country for personal reasons, and sought to learn the dialect during their stay.
I also worked for a telecommunica tions company on a customer service basis so I am adept in handling customer needs.
Because I am quite known as a proficient conversatonal ist in both languages, I am often requested to assist in introductions between foreigners and natives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Teaching schedule can vary depending on the availability of the students. The most preferred schedule though would be at nights, and at a three to four times a week basis. This is so the language retention skills will always be at par; practice is a must so a steady communicqatio n is vital to the student's success.
P ayment should be made in two installments. The first half must be paid when contact has been made and a suitable schedule and both parties contact details have been established. This is to ensure the sincerity and validity of said tutor, on the part of students.
The second payment will be made two weeks before said course ends.
The preferred payment method for said courses will be through a money order or cashier's check. Wire transfer is also acceptable but not advisable.

Cost of Lessons

Lessons costs $60. With assurance that at the end of the course, you will be able to at least hold a decent conversation with natives and at the most have a firm command of the language.
Courses can last from a a month to 3 motnhs, depending on the ability to learn of students.
