Teaching Approach

My passion for Latin and the Classics is rooted in my fascination for the influential impact of these “dead languages” in modern languages, literature, theatre and sculpture.
I n my private lessons I focus on the development of the ability to read Latin and Greek. The emfasis is on idiom, grammar and grammatical exercises, and on reading selections about daily life, mythology and history. From these passages the student can gain insight into the elements of Roman and Greek culture and history.

Program Description

I have studied Classical Languages in the Netherlands and I have earned a Master of Arts and Teaching Degree in Latin and Ancient Greek from The Free University of Amsterdam and from The Leiden University. I have taught Latin, Greek and Classical Culture and History at high school level (liceo classico) for 6 years (ages 12 till 18). The past three years I have been studying Classical Sculpture in the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. Since 2011 I’m teaching sculpture in this school. Besides my sculpture instruction I’m giving private lessons in Latin and Greek.

Teaching Experience

I have taught Latin, Greek and Classical Culture and History at high school level (liceo classico) for 6 years (ages 12 till 18), and I have taught Ancient Greek in The Free University of Amsterdam (Faculty Theology). I have been working as a student assistant on computer-assi sted language learning for Ancient Greek.
