As a private tutor, I understand the difficulty that Koreans have learning and speaking Korean due to the very different grammatical and conversationa l structures of the two languages. I teach all of my students to understand specifically these differences between the two languages. Once this difference is learned and understood, the student can begin learning to speak English with more confidence and less fear of making errors.

Program Description

I begin by teaching each of my students the differences between English and Korean sentence structures. After this phase is completed, we begin speaking practice. Mastering speaking in complete sentences requires focus and discipline of both the student and teacher.
In each lesson, we will study articles from newspapers, websites or television shows. I enjoy exposing my students to various forms of media. We will also study the relevant vocabulary of each media piece. Over time, as the student builds up their vocabulary, they will be able to understand what they read and see in English.
My lessons are focused around various media forms because it is current and interesting for the students, and they become familiar with the ways in which English speakers communicate on a daily basis.
The students' homework will also be linked to media studies. In learning a new language, I believe it is crucial to listen often to native speakers. The students should expect to listen to English radio and watch English television on a daily basis as part of my homework.
