Teaching Approach
|
|
|
My teaching approach is to customize lessons and activities according to what the student needs in order to progress in the most effective and rapid manner.
Pr imary emphasis will be placed on speaking, writing and communicating correctly in the foreign language, at a pace that's comfortable for the student. Such hands-on instruction will serve to immerse the student in the foreign language.
Having a conversation with the student in the foreign language they're learning is an important way of helping them progress. I'll also encourage students to write in the foreign language.
A variety of assignments and lessons will help the student become more interested in learning the language.
What sets my program apart is that I'm very patient when providing instruction, that I care about my students' progress, and that I communicate clearly and in a very interesting manner. I encourage every student to communicate freely in the foreign language without being afraid to make mistakes. In that way, the student will gain confidence in speaking and writing the language.
I help my students to express themselves creatively in the foreign language they're studying.

Program Description
|
|
|
Lessons will progress from basic vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation exercises, to reading comprehension , discussions and cultural insights.
I’d base many of my lessons on my student's area of interest. For example, if a student likes art, we'd talk about art. I'd give the student an assignment writing about their favorite artist. For another assignment, I'd ask the student to write a letter to someone in the foreign language.
Some lessons would be conducted using a standard textbook or workbook in the foreign language.
Other lessons would feature the student translating a website or other printed material.
I'd occasionally ask the student to serve as a translator for one of his friends or family members. The student would speak in the language I'm teaching him. His friends and family members would speak in their native language.
There'd be lessons in which I test the student on their use of expressions. In other lessons, I'd test the student on vocabulary or grammar usage.
Som e homework assignments would be accomplished using a textbook or workbook, others would be make use of a foreign language website, still others may involve watching a film or TV show, or listening to a song, and answering questions in the foreign language.
A classroom activity would feature Skype voice conferences with two or three students.
