Teaching Experience

Cantonese is my native language.I had been working as a Cantonese Instructor in a Pearl products promotion center in Taiwan. In addition, I had been using Mandarin here for more than twenty years in my sales of life insurance, English Learning and Teaching Materials, tropical fish and its related products. My major in the university was fishery biology and I had been participating in research projects on water pollution and animal nutrition for seven years.After that, I did my business on managing a local fish store in Taiwan. I had been teaching Taiwanese the rearing and breeding of ornamental fishes there for ten years before I immigrate to US on 2005.I got my first Mandarin learner in Jan 2006. One more Mandarin learner was added to my class since Feb 2007.

I finished my high school in Hong Kong and I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Department of Zoology, National Taiwan University in June 1990.I've got my English Business Presentation Training Certificate when I was in Taiwan three years ago. Q:What is your available time for teaching?
A: MON thru FRI, 8~10 p.m.
SAT & SUN 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.(not available at 1to 4 p.m. for SAT and 12:00 to 2 p.m. for SUN)
Q:Wha t is your teaching schedule?
A: My schedule of teaching is base on the Chinese translations of 1000 words for Taiwan Junior High School or daily conversation topics which depends on level of the student. We may have some modifications upon request.
Q:How do you teach?
A:I have several source of teaching materials, such as:
CDROM, CD, VCD. I will use power point presentation or other software learning programs on teaching so that student can easily memorize a certain group of words in a short period of time. After that, we'll go over some daily conversation topics or topics on business, science and technology. The choice is up to you.
Q:Wha t is your payment policy?
A:By cash, check or paypal account.
Q:Will you teach writing, too?
A:Yes, I will teach you basically in traditional Chinese words writing stroke by stroke or simplified Chinese character if you like.
Q:Wh ere is the meeting place for in person tutor?
A:It is located on Westgreen area of Katy near I-10 highway.
Q:Can you teach Beijing style Mandarin?
A: There are many tongue rolling sounds in Beijing style Mandarin. As a tool for communication , I don't think there is a need to learn Beijing style Mandarin for someone who just want to speak Mandarin and understand what people say in Mandarin . I have my own style. That means between Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China accent. But if you want, maybe I can do that better than anyone else.
Q:I only have three months time to learn Mandarin, do you have the ability to teach me effectively?
A:Please keep in mind, language learning is a life long process. No one can familiar with every elements of a language in just a short period of time. I have been using Mandarin in my daily life for more than twenty years and I am still learning it bit by bit. Teaching and learning, both benefit. If you can cooperate with me, I'll try my best using all possible media of communication to help you speed up your learning process.
