Hello,
I will be traveling to Japan to take part in a livestock feed consortium meeting in early September. My job is with an agribusiness firm here in the US, and I specialize in ingredient development for human and animal nutrition. During my meetings in Tokyo, I will be meeting with academics, government representativ es (Department of Agriculture), and private businesses.
I have never studied Japanese nor been to Japan before. I recognize that I am facing a social deficit in Japan as a female business woman, and I would like to learn correct business customs so I do not embarrass myself or my hosts. I would like to dedicate 4-5 hours per week for 6 weeks (July 22 - August 29) to learning Japanese. I would appreciate learning business customs, words appropriate to livestock (animal names), and travel/polite words.
I am looking for a teacher who has experience either in business in Japan, or in teaching American businesspeopl e who will be travelling in Japan.
I would appreciate meeting face-to-face, as I know that I learn better this way. I would also appreciate being given homework. My schedule is that I work 8-5:30 pm Monday-Friday . I work downtown and live in SW Minneapolis.

I am actually seeking an instructor for my boyfriend. He has a lifetime love affair with Anime and bought all of these Japanese books hoping to learn the language so he could speak conversationa lly and be able to read his favorite Japanese manga it its original form. I was hoping to surprise him for his birthday with 5 hours of sessions, and then he could get more if he liked it. I took Chinese for two years in college and have a strong understanding of the difficulty in learning a symbolic language vs. phonetic languages like English or German. It truly is a complete and utter shift in how we think about language. I hoped for him to have some basic instruction because personally, based on my experience with Chinese, it would be impossible to teach yourself Japanese. Thank you.

I'm trying to learn how to speak Japanese and Korean. Right now we have Japanese in our school which has really only taught us how to write hiragana and katakana. The teacher has not done a good job with teaching us phrases at all.
I would also like to learn Korean because I am very intrigued by the culture, and the language itself to me is very interesting.
I chose these two languages because I am very passionate about learning languages and different cultures. The Japanese and Korean cultures happen to be my favorite for it completely different way of living from here.

I will be a beginner in both of the languages I want to learn. I want to learn Spanish for career advancement when I become a nurse. I want to learn Japanese because I want to take a long trip to Japan. I want to be able to teach my daughter who is two both of these languages.
