I desire to learn how to speak russian in order to be able to communicate with my fiance's family. I speak spanish and english fluently, but have no background with russian. My proficiency level is probably 1. I bought a self teach Russian language course but I am the type of person that needs a class and guidlines with goals. The reason I am learning to speak Russian is because I will be married to a Russian woman. I am interested in the language and culture but really would like to be able to communicate with my wife in her native language. I am willing to spend up to $400 dollars a month on lessons. At 20 dollars an hour I figure that should cover about 20 class hours a month not including home work. I really want to learn the language as quickly as possible and be proficiant with reading and writing. I think I am a pretty quick learner and would take the initiative to learn on my own if I could just get a good set of guidlines for learning a language. I've had every kind of teacher there is and once in the program mold myself to be the ideal student.
