I am looking for a teacher for the Russian language to give
private lessons to a small group of adult students (at
least 2, and we have contacts with others who may join
the group). We have taken community courses, but would
like to study in a more serious way.
We would like one lesson per week (say 1.5 or 2 hours) which
would include instruction on grammar,writi ng and reading,
as well as practice in conversation. We would like to work
through a text or organised program, and would complete
hom ework assignments (although no more than about 5 hours
per week, due to other commitments). We have also found
that an occassional test or dictation is a good for us!
Our motivation for learning Russian is to be able to
exchange letters with Russian speakers and to be able to
hold conversations with them when we visit. Although we
would like to visit Russia itself our current contacts
are in Belarus.

I want to learn Mandarin Chinese to the point of flawless fluency. I went to a boarding school and many of my friends are from Taiwan. I know simple phrases, but desperately want to know how to write Chinese characters. I also had a Czech teacher and Moldovan friend who spoke Russian although I have always been fascinated with the language. I intend on traveling to both China and Russia in the future and would like to speak both fluently. I am very good at languages (French, Spanish, English) and quick on the uptake. I would be willing to devote a lot of time to the learning of each language.

I studied Russian for several years in high school. I studied abroad in St. Peterburg, Russia for two months in 1995. When I started my undergraduate degree in Fall 1995, I was placed in second year Russian. I then completed third year Russian. I have not studied Russian for over five years. I would guess that my profficiency level is intermediate. My ultimate goals are to become fluent in Russian. I would like to use this in my career. I am looking for an instructor in the LA area.
