I am trying to find a way to learn Russian due to my work environment. About 40% of the people I come in contact with speak Russian and I completely understand the language barrier. It not only is it difficult on my end but I know they struggle as well. I will be a beginner with no background in the language at all. I am willing to spend two to three hours a week to learn the language. I really am looking to be able to speak the language well enough for them to understand me so work can go smoother. Patie nce with an American that wants to learn! I tell my wife that I do not speak English, but I do speak American English, and anyone that has ever tried to understand the British, knows what I mean!!! American English is like no other in the world, but it is taken from most of the world!

My reason for wanting to learn Russian is I have traveled to Ukraine and Moldova eight times and always needed a translator. I would like to go there again and not need a translator or use one during a limited amount of time.
I know a few words of Russian. However, I am not 100% certain my pronunciation is correct. I am a beginner. I cannot read or write any Russian and cannot carry on a conversation. I need help from a beginner's level. I have never taken a language lesson in the past. The only language I know is English.
I should be able to take one hour of lessons once every two weeks during the first couple of months and then study between lessons. After that, I would like to take one lesson each week, if time allows. I do not lack motivation, but free time is sometimes very tight.
I understand Russian is a difficult language to learn, so I would like my teacher to be patient and polite, as I am, while at the same time be able to explain things in a manner I will be able to understand and comprehend. I would prefer a woman teacher.
