Olá! I am interested in learning Brazilian Portuguese and am very much a beginner student of the language. I know a few words and some phrases since my girlfriend lives in Brazil. As it is too expensive to call on a regular basis, I am not getting the experience of hearing spoken Portuguese and getting the opportunity to speak the language in return. I think this is vital in the language learning process. I intend to make a return visit to Brazil in July 2007, (I was there last year for a few weeks), and I would like to be able to understand and speak more Portuguese. I am looking for a teacher of Brazilian Portuguese who would be located relatively close to me with whom I could take lessons from and who might be flexible as my free time is limited. My level of proficiency is beginner-inte rmediate. I want to learn portuguese because I am actually half Brazilian and would like to get in touch with my roots. I am also planning a trip to Rio next year and would like to be able to interact with the natives! I am looking for a teacher with a flexible schedule since I am a full time student of communication s at the Univ. of Houston, which involves most of my time (however, I am able to dedicate 3-4 hrs a week to learn more). THERE IS NO BETTER teacher than one who enjoys working with peoole, communicative , patient, fun, and loves their profession!

I have taken 1 semester if Portuguese classes, and several trips to Brazil. My vocabulary is pretty extensive but my grammar needs help. Even though I have some understanding of some grammar it is hard for me to put it together when speaking. I would like to work on both conversation and grammar.

Currently I speak Russian and English. I not just want I need to learn Portuguese. I have been to Brazil and know a little bit, but not even close enough to communicating with people. I would like to learn the basics and expand my vocabulary. I want to do an accelerator program and do it fast.
