I am a beginner in Korean language, and have already learned the complete Hangul alphabet, as well as how to write the characters. I am interested in learning the language on an interest basis, particularly because I would like to learn to gain a better insight to Korean life. I have not yet started official lessons, and need beginning training. I am willing to dedicate at least 2 hours to my lessons and I would like a patient teacher, in the area, or near a Metro.

I was raised speaking Cantonese until 5 years old. I speak English as my main language. I have four years of high school French language instruction, and one year of Japanese college instruction. I speak conversationa l Cantonese, and basic Korean. I lived in Hong Kong for one year, in Japan for a few months, and in Korea for two years. I learned some Mandarin as a child.

Although I'm Korean-Americ an, my speaking is relatively poor, although I can understand enough to get by in some contexts. I am learning for both career advancement and personal reasons. I am looking to improve my speaking ability most: I want to become solidly conversant. I can dedicate several hours a week and am a hard worker.
I am looking for someone who is patient and dedicated and focused at the task at hand. I don't want to learn much history or writing/readi ng skills, just communication , because I'm in the area for a short time (early August).
