Learning a foreign language is not only a passion but also a career advancement since in the future I would like to become a translator/in terpreter. My Italian proficiency would be at an intermediate level whereas my German would be at the very beginning.
For my Italian I would love to improve on my grammaer and oral skills.
For my German, on the other hand, I would love to learn everything from Grammar to conversation to vocabulary and so forth.
Since I'm currently in University and I'm already juggling five courses I would like to say that I want to dedicate at least one to two times a week but it may change depending on my course load.
The qualities that I seek in a teacher and a lesson is clear explanations about grammar, patience, activities in which I can practise and apply what I have learned and some background knowledge about the culture to further understand the make-up of the language.

I wish to learn German because my wife is native German and I will be meeting my in laws this summer. They do not speak English. In addition, my wife will be taking a subcontractin g position with her previous employer in German for 3-6 months (July to December 2010) near Duisburg, ironically doing translation work. I will likely be with her during the entire stay. It is also possible that we might start a division of an internet business in Germany as well.
I am a beginner. I will need all phases of German literacy. I am just getting started with a new employer and my responsibilit ies may take me to other parts of California. I need to know how much time I should dedicate to learning German. I have several German friends who can support my learning effort.
Th e qualities I am looking for in my teacher are: patience, method, structure, and versatility. I struggle with repetition on my own, but can handle the challenges with personal attention, whether in one on one or small groups.

Hi, I'm interested in learning new foreign languages to broaden my ability to communicate and learn new experiences with others when I visit these countries, or meet foreigners in my line of work.
I'm definitely new to these foreign languages and will most likely start from zero. The areas I feel I need to pick up in are mainly conversationa l (the sort of stuff you can say or share across a dinner table or in a cafe with a partner or a group of friends).
I should be available on weekends (2 hours a week). I would prefer a tutor whom I can click with, (late 20s to mid-30s), and has some teaching experience.
