1. Why: My husband is a Swedish citizen and has lived in the states now for 14 years. We have two daughters that we want to learn Swedish. I too need to learn so that we can be two parents in the household helping teach them.
2. Proficiency: Definitely beginner.
3. Areas of Improvement: All. We travel to Skane at least every two years so we want to learn conversationa l Swedish but also want our girls to learn how to read and write the language as they get older since this is their heritage.
4. Time: Our daughters are 6 years old and 21 months old so for now we are looking at my 6 year old as the primary learner (and me too!). At 6 I think her attention span would be good for 1 hour sessions unless there is a classroom type instruction with other kids or a summer type camp for other types of stimulation.
5. Qualities: I really would like an instructor that is great with children. One who has mutiple teaching techniques (ie. workbooks, songs, games, etc.) I also would like a teacher who is comfortable with me volunteering my time to help in the classroom or learn along side with my girls.
