I have recently been accepted for Teach for China and need to learn basic Mandarin before going (I leave in July2012). I have no prior experience in Mandarin and would be a beginner. I would like to focus more on conversation and understanding . Lessons two-three times a week for a couple of hours would most likely be good. I would like to learn Farsi because I am marrying into a Persian family in July 2012. Although my husband to be speaks English most of the time, I know that he would enjoy being able to speak Farsi while at home all of the time instead of translating for me. I also believe that this would be an important step for me to become better accepted into the family. I would consider myself a beginner. I am more interested in learning conversationa l Farsi than reading and writing Farsi. My schedule would allow me to attend a class twice a week after 4pm for approximately an 1-2 hours ideally on/near OSU campus. I am looking for a dedicated teacher that can teach me the language so I can feel comfortable interacting with a very my new family from Iran.
