I am at the beginners stage of learning Mandarin. I know how to only speak Cantonese based from my learnings at home when I was a child.
I want to learn how to speak, write and read Mandarin.

I have recently arrived in Calgary from the UK. I studied Mandarin in the UK for 1 year and I would like to continue studying here. I was studying using Beijing Language University text books and I was also learning Simplified Chinese characters.

I am a beginner , I have been to China and would like to go back someday and be able to understand the language more. The reason I want to learn more is for general interest and I'm thinking that 2 and 4 lessons a month might be good ?
When I was in China the locals I knew who spoke english had a hard time understanding how certain words or sayings could have a few different meanings depending on how they were expressed , I can't think of any off the top of my head right now but I remember explaining some .
