Hi I would like for my daughter to learn a second language and because we have travelled to s.e. asia many times we are interested for her to learn mandarin chinese. She is doing extremeley well in her studies at school and is reading and writing well above her age group.We would like one hour lesson per week preferably at weekend or not too long after school finishes-mayb e 4 or 5 oclock. I am moving to Beijing at the beginning of May and I want to teach English when I get there. I would like to be able to speak and understand Mandarin Chinese so that I can get the most out of interacting with the people and learning the culture while I am in China. Also, when I return to America, I would like to be able to understand Chinese well enough to use it toward advancing my career in the States.
At this point I do not know any Mandarin Chinese at all. I would like to dedicate 2 or 3 hours a day to learning Chinese with the tutor. I need a teacher who is confident,con sistent, patient and effective at teaching.
