I am learning this foreign language mostly because I am from Russia. I have hosted 2 foreign exchange students, and I am just in awe of the language and would love to be fluent so i can comminucate with my best friends in russian. My proficiency level is beginner. The areas i feel i need improvement are all areas. I would like to dedicate as much time during the summer as I can. I am looking for a teacher i can share past expierences with while learning and having constructive critisim present when necessary and just to have someone to help me with learning the language in a non stressful enviroment

I studied Russian in high school and majored in Russian in college. By the time I finished college, I had achieved a high level of written and conversationa l proficiency for a non-native speaker (which is to say, a fairly basic level of proficiency overall). It has been seven years since I graduated college, and I have very rarely used the Russian language in that time. As a result, I am now at a very basic level of proficiency in both spoken and written Russian.
I would like to regain my conversationa l Russian skills. I am much less concerned with my level of written proficiency. I would like to do this as a matter of personal fulfillment (I enjoyed studying Russian and regret losing my skills) and also because I believe it will help my career.
I would like to dedicate about an hour per week to regaining my conversationa l fluency. The qualities I am most looking for in a teacher are: patience, friendliness, and a sense of humor. But especially patience.
