In 2004, I spent 6 months in Shanghai learning Mandarin. I reached an intermediate level (1000 words) of spoken Mandarin. Since that time I have had little opportunity to practice it. I'm looking for conversation level and will be available for two evenings per week and sometimes afternoons.
My teacher must be a native Mandarin speaker, enthusiatic and patient, and have a knowledge of Chinsese cuisine because gastronomy is one of my favourite topics!

I am an Arabic native and speak English very well and would like to learn Mandarin to advance my career.
I currently speak no Mandarin at all. However, after learning the basics of written and spoken Chinese; having a good grasp of grammar and fairly large number of characters; I will spend some time in China in a language institute to properly learn the language.
But in order to benefit the most from the time I will spend in China, I need to learn the very basics here. I am currently using interactive software to learn Chinese but that the lack of proper guidance and structure is a big obstacle.
I will dedicate at least 1 hour a day during working days (given my full time job) and at least 3 hours a day in weekends. Moreover, I would like to add to that 3 or 4 hours a week of private classes.
The teacher should be fluent in Mandarin and speaks English (or Arabic) and should have the ability to teach Chinese to a non-Chinese speaker. The availability of a structured course material is a plus (but not a must).
