Hi, I have lived in Ireland for most of my life (i'm 28) and i have studied Irish in school. I did honours Irish for my Junior Cert and Pass Irish in my Leaving Cert. I have decided that i want to become a teacher in Ireland and to do that i have to go back to Ireland to do Honours Irish in the Leaving Cert. I am going back in Sept 2005 to enrol in an evening course for Leaving Cert Irish. My problem is that i am having difficultly remembering most of the Irish that i have learnt and need help with grammar and conversation. i live in Tokyo and would like a lesson a week to help me out.

I wish to learn Irish since my parents were raised in Co. Donegal in the Gaeltacht and I would like to converse with my cousins there in their native tongue. I am a rank beginner who has learned a few phrases during visits to Donegal. If I can find a tutor nearby, I would like to learn in person; if not, internet learning is fine, BUT as an Irish speaker knows well, pronouncing the language for an English speaker is difficult. I would be able to devote perhaps 3 or 4 hours per week to my lessons. There is no professional reason why I want to learn Irish other than atavism, since I am retired. If I can find teacher who can dispense lessons by e-mail and back them up with phone conversations , for pronunciation , I would like to start my journey to learn Irish.

I want to study the Gaelic language because I hope to visit Ireland and possibly make a career there as well. I have a sincere interest in foreign languages and would love to study as many as I can. Right now I am a beginner in Gaelic, but I have studied other languages so the learning process is not totally new to me. I am looking for a class that is open in the afternoons or at nights. Level: am beginner to intermediate
I wish to learn more of my (what should be) native tongue.
Born in Ireland, knew little Irish, lost much of what i learned when moved to the states.
Need the Irish to reestablish my culture and roots i feel i am losing.
Not so fussy , so dont be put off that i am irish.
Just learning any will be nice.
I need improvement in ALL areas but will settle for any.
Can dedicate once week or 3 x a week i would venture to say.
Looking for any teacher but PREFER someone quite in tune w the Irish and roots.
I am somewhat familiar so will recognise if is a poor teacher. Fair teacher is acceptable.
