I would like to start learning Portuguese as I want to have the ability to communicate and maybe someday move to a country such as Brazil. I plan to one day work in the mining sector and since Brazil is experiencing a mining boom, I decided that it might be wise to start learning a language that's common in this particular country. I don't have any experience in it so I guess I'm a beginner. I would like to start off with about two hours a week, and I would like a tutor or teacher who can help me get materials, to do extra study in my own time. I am currently at university and since they do not offer Portuguese as a language, I came here to seek tutoring from someone who will be patient and good helping me with the correct pronunciation etc.

I want to learn Swiss-German. My mother is Swiss and can speak Swiss-German but is not in a position to be able to teach me. I would be able to ask her for advice from time to time for help but she is very busy with her business.
I want to learn Swiss-German to communicate with her and family members in Switzerland to be better connected to my family history and also i hope to travel to Switzerland in the future.
I will be starting as a beginner.
I want to dedicate as much time as required in order to learn the language cost effectively and in a reasonable time frame (which i would require some feedback on how long it can take to advance levels).
The qualities i am looking for in a teacher is someone of a kind demeanor. I am a quick learner and dedicated to study, so provided my coach is qualified in what they do, i see no reason why it would not work out.

Hi there,
At the start of the year i spent 5 weeks in Rio and since this experience have fallen in love with the Brasilian culture and Language! I will be going back very soon (possibly at the end of the year).
Som e of the friends i have made whilst i was over there i speak with on a regular basis through either Facebook, Skype or MSN in Portuguese and English. I use Google Translation a lot to be able to communicate fully but have been picking it up along the way.
I have spent some time learning through online trainers, books and a little from a cd. I would classify my level as beginner as i do understand some of the basics in terms of grammar and can form some sentences without any help of translation.
At this stage, i find reading Portuguese the easiest, then writing, then speaking and lastly, understanding (someone talking to me).
I would prefer to learn in a class environment as i feel this would enhance the experience of learning the language. Also, i would like the lessons to be enjoyable and high energy as that is how i view Brasil and is the reason i am so interested in learning Brasilian Portuguese in the first place :)
