I am very interested in learning the Japanese language, because I believe it's the first stepping stone into learning more about their culture. I have done some self study on my own, and even taken a college 110 course in Japanese language. I'd really like to work on foundation material, and get some face to face conversation time. I'd more than likely be interested in something weekly, however any and all exposure is good for learning! I'm really looking for a teacher who has spent time native in Japan, because I'm sure the culture questions will come non-stop.

I will be traveling to Japan in June 2011, and was hoping to be able to speak enough Japanese to be respectful while I am there. I will also be going into the Travel and Tourism industry in the near future and I believe that the knowledge of at least basic Japanese would be an asset! I am at the beginner level. I am unsure of my schedule at the moment, as I will be starting school at the end of the month, but I am willing to devote as much time as possible to learning the language. I am looking for a patient and understanding teacher, who also challenges me.

My name is Eileen. My family is from the Dominican Republic. I love east asian languages and have been studying Japanese since I was fourteen. I hope to further myself in the Japanese language as well as delve into more east asian languages. I'm hoping to dedicate three hours a week with a private course as well as continue my independant study.
