| Description |
I am an interested in learning Scottish Gaelic because I gave a great interest in history and the meaning of place names. My family were borderland Scots so Gaelic was not spoken in my family. I love to learn new things and am usually a quick learner but I make no promises! I do not know how much aptitude I have for this language. I need a tutor would can correct my grammar, pronunciation and structural aspects of the language I do not understand. I have an interest in language and etymology. I took French as a child in school and didn't learn any more or less than a 'A' student would. I can still trot out a few French phrases when needed and seem to have a better listening and reading knowledge of the language than speaking. I seem to have the ability to learn and remember vocabulary and phrases in other languages. M y ideal course structure would be a downloadable or cd/DVD course or text book/workbook which I home study every day and meeting with an instructor 3 to 4 times a month for guidance. I travel for my job so I am unable to participate in person much more than that. I would be willing to participate by phone. It would be nice to be fluent but I am not sure that is a reasonably attainable goal. I would like to gain a solid foundation of the language that I can build on. I would like my accent to be inoffensive and to not butcher the language in an annoying manner should I speak it to a native speaker when using common phrases. I would also like to have enough knowledge to have an idea what is going on in an average situation. I am a beginner. My ideal instructor would be flexible enough to accommodate the work schedule which is not a regular 9-5, 5 day working week job. I am hoping find a person who is dedicated to helping people such as myself learn properly and makes it fun in a way that keeps me on task.

I would like to learn Scottish Gaelic or Irish Gaelic. My great. great grandfather emigrate to the U.S. from Aberdeen, Scotland. I love the music and would like to learn more about the language and history of the regions. I am fluent in Spanish as a second language after having lived in the Panama Canal Zone for 3 years. I know Gaelic is a Germanic language and much tougher than Spanish, but I believe I have the aptitude to learn it. I would prefer a formal classroom but in the absence of that I would take informal classes. I could dedicate 6 hours per week or two 3-hour classes per week. I like the idea of a formal classroom because one get's the grammar, speaking, drills, exercises, vocabulary, and reading, all in one class. The qualities I look for in a teacher/profe ssor are any that enable him or her to impart what they know.

| Description |
Hello, I very much look forward to learning Scottish Gaelic! This past year I've written many songs with a Scottish sound, and am now at the point where I long to know the language. I'm a beginner. I am retired, so I have lots of time to dedicate to learning.

I am a beginner. I remember a few phrases from my childhood, but I'm afraid that what I do remember was corrupted by the combination of a Scots Gaelic speaking grandfather and an Irish Gaelic speaking great grandfather. I plan on travelling to Scotland next year and would love to be able to speak at least some Gaelic.
