I already understand quite a bit of italian, but I have a hard time speaking it and saying what I would like to say. I was raised in an italian speaking home, but me and my sisters spoke English to our parents and they spoke to us in their dialect. . I know this does not make a lot of sense. I would like to go and visit relatives and not worry about being emberassed that I cannot speak it properly.
I need help with conversation for sure.
I am looking for a teacher that enjoys their job and has the patience to teach and help me progress to speak to a level that I am comfortable.

I would like to learn to speak Italian fluently so that I may communicate with my relatives in Italy and also to be able to travel comfortably in Italy. I have had a few months of lessons recently but my teacher had to go back to Italy. I would consider myself a beginner with a nack for picking up foreign languages. I had 5 years of high school and college spanish, one semester of Italian in college, and one semester of Latin in college as well. It has been quite a while since HS and College but I do remember a lot of vocabulary still. I need to improve on being comfortable with what I already know to start using it in conversation with someone. I was taking private lessons three times a week at my home. I am looking for a Italian teacher that can speak the language fluently in the traditional dilect. I would like to know that they have taught others with sucess and will be able to stick around until I felt comfortable speaking fluently.

I am an intermediate student of Italian, having taken group classes on a fairly regular basis at the Italian Cultural Institute, Toronto, and also years ago at University when I majored in French. My reason for wanting to brush up my Italian langugae skills continually is that we travel to Italy on vacation regularly, and we will be going again this September. I anticipate spending 2 hours per week in class and doing and evaluating homework. I like a structured environment, so that I can see the progress I am making, and hope to work on both grammar and conversation skills. In my teacher I hope to find patience, a sense of humour, and a strong motivator.
