I am a professor at a British university and a visiting professor in Bangkok. I visit Thailand about three or four times a year. At the moment, I can speak only a few words in Thai and I am looking for someone to meet me to teach me basic, conversationa l Thai.
My preferred option would be for a teacher to visit me for perhaps one hour, three times in the week that I am in Bangkok. I stay at a hotel in the centre. My next visit starts on 9th January 2004.
I would prefer a teacher who is patient, can work slowly and who has a sense of sanuk! I would also prefer to be taught 'standard' Thai, if possible. As a fairly quiet person, I would also prefer fairly quiet, modest teacher: perhaps a young, male graduate - but age and gender are not important.
I would want to be clear about the cost of the lessons, in advance and would need it to be appreciated that I visit Bangkok only three or four times a year, for about 10 days at a time.
I am an honest, trustworthy person, who has great respect and liking for Thailand and Thai culture.
