I go to Transilvania regularly to visit friends. I can only communicate with a few of them through English. The older people cannot speak English. I wish to learn basic conversationa l skills in Hungarian. I have a Hungarian friend in England with whom I can chat using Skype but she has a full time job and is not in a position to teach me. I am a recently retired medical academic. I would like 1:1 teaching and I would expect my teacher to develop a plan of study with regular assessment, guidance, explanation, support and encouragement .

I am learning Hungarian in order to read primary-sourc e documents for my dissertation. I have studied Hungarian on-and-off for 5 years, I consider myself an intermediate/ advanced student. I am looking to improve all areas of my Hungarian, though reading is perhaps the highest priority. I would like to do intensive language learning-- several hours per week. I'd like one-on-one tutoring with a teacher that knows how to design lessons to suit my research needs.
