I am a beginner with little experience in the Spanish Language. I would like to learn Spanish for career advancement. I am a police officer in the Columbus area. I am a beginner in the Irish Gaelic language. I am looking at graduate programs in the Republic of Ireland. (Still not sure if I am going to be a medievalist or will concentrate on modern day Ireland) Either way I nned to be proficient in Gaelic. I would like to start in May of 2006 and will be able to dedicate a significant amount of time to learning the language. I am a government employee seeking to learn Serbo-Croatia n for two primary reasons: career advancment and to reintroduce the language into my family. I must confess that I have no experience in the language, but my serious study habits will more than make up for the lack of experience. I maintained a 3.9 in undergraduate school, and I am currently maintaining a 4.0 as a graduate student in security policy studies. In addition, as a prior active duty Marine Officer, I am capable of a degree of dedication unparalleled by most of my peers.
As a full-time employee and part-time grad student, I am seeking a teacher who doesn't mind conducting night classes. I am open to suggestions as to how often I should meet with the instructor; they know more than I do about the best methods for learning this language. However, I am more inclined to the idea of meeting once a week for two to three hours, the purpose of which would be to give me a sound base to run with the rest of the week. (The frequency with which I meet the teacher can increase between graduate semesters.)
