I am writing to you on behalf of my son and wife who are very interested to learning to speak and write japanese.
My son, Aidan, is 14 years old and fascinated by all aspects of Japanese culture. Last summer he took a Japanese class at the University of California, Berkeley through the Academic Talent Development Program. this class consisted of 3 hours of intense study per day, three days per week. We had to travel an hour each way from San Jose to get him to class and he finished with a B+ grade. The class was equivalent to a full-year of high school Japanese.
Aidan has expressed a desire to study in Kyoto when he goes to college, and he and I will travel to Japan together the year after next.
Aida n is a very intelligent boy who is very passionate about the things he enjoys. My sense is that he would want to take lessons several days per week.
My wife, June, is a fifth-grade teacher in San Jose. She has many years of experience studying French in high school and college. She is interested in studying Japanese in order to help facilitate Aidan's language development and to be able to share with him his enthusiasm.
I am interested in enrolling Aidan as soon as possible.

I am at beginner level in Japanese. I know a little more than absolutely nothing... I can identify words such as 'Attack' and 'Idiot' and 'Dangerous' but that's not really helpful in the real world.
I have nothing to do, so I'm willing to dedicate eight hours a month to language studies.
I'm looking for a teacher, preferably female, who has a pleasant and patient attitude. I'm really shy so I need a teacher who's quite 'gentle'... more like a very knowledgeable friend than just a teacher. If she knows anything about improving the sound of my voice, that would be great.

I am an extreme beginner. I speak some basic martial arts terms because I have done karate all my life. I wish to enhance my understanding of my art and Japanese culture through language instruction and be better able to communicate with my teachers.
I would like to spend as much time as I can in instruction but have to work and have other responsibilit ies. I am looking forward to a patient and capable teacher.

This is actually for my son. He is almost 15 years old and is a beginner to the Japanese language. He is extremely excited and enthusiastic about learning Japanese, to the point where he has downloaded various teaching guides off of the internet in a attempt to teach himself.
H e needs learning in all areas of the language. His goal is to be able to speak and read proficiently.

I wish to learn Japanese. I'm a high school student who has recently started summer vacation. I take latin in school but it is only as a requirement and not a passion. I have no proficiency in Japanese, and I only know a few words.
I want to learn it though because ever since I was a child I had a fascination with japanese culture, history, and the country itself. My dream is to one day study abroad in Japan. I' am interested in everything japanese. I frequently study japanese history and culture on my own time, and particpate in martial arts.
I've tried taking online free language courses, but the courses always seem so general and are of little help. I wish to find a way to learn how to read, write, and speak japanese. I'm willing to do the work to learn it because I'm very passionate about it, and feel that if I have someone to help me learn it I can learn quickly.
I'm looking for someone who can help me extensively not only in just learning the language but in conversationa l skills in japanese as well. Thank you for your time.
