Good Day
I would like to make an enquiry on getting lessons for Mandarin. I am a beginner and would like to get a litlle exposure to the language as i will be pursueing my tertiary studies in China later this year, so i need assistance as soon as possible to atleast get me started. I am seeking an experienced, flexible and friendly Mandarin Tutor for a Canadian Born Chinese Native English speaker. I studied beginner Mandarin at Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) last summer. Other than that I don't have any other formal background - So very little training!
I have the books from that school and would like a tutor to follow these books where possible so I can stay on track. In the future, I may return to NTNU so I'd like to keep up with their methods.
I live downtown Toronto by Spadina and Bloor, willing to travel if it's <20 mins away. I am seeking once a week sessions, possibly twice a week if time permits. Prefer in-person to begin, and if technology permits I'm also open to video conferencing to save on costs.
You must have a formal teaching certificate in Mandarin teaching, and able to read/write in both Traditional and Simplified.

Good evening. I have been reading books on China. One author is Yu Hua. I am currently reading ' Restless Empire' China since 1750 by Odd Arne Westad. A friend recently issued me a challenge to try to learn or do something new this year. I would like to try to learn Chinese. I realize this is will be difficult, but wish to make the attempt.
