i'm an indian, speaking many languages already (indian as well as foreign like french), but am very keen to learn mandarin as i feel china is the country of the future and knowing its language will be a big asset for my professional life. tho i'm not sure if its better to learn chinese or mandarin, but hopefully a native of the country will clarify this.
i'd like a teacher who's not just a chinese, but should also be a professional teacher as just speaking a language is no guarantee than one can teach it well. having learnt a few languages (french, german) formally, i've realised that's a special skill which requires training and a love for the language.
