I would classify myself as a Beginner for conversationa l Swedish, and Intermediate for written Swedish.
I am learning Swedish purely as a hobby to stretch me: I am not a gifted linguist at all... I bought the Linguaphone course three years ago, and worked my way through that. Since then, I've practiced by buying a couple of Swedish films on DVD, and translating the Swedish subtitles into English. I've also bought Swedish kids books aimed at 9-12 year olds, and only occasionally need to look words up in a dictionary - so I have a pretty good vocabulary in theory.
Ho wever, my spoken Swedish lags way, way behind this (which was also the case when I learned languages at school). I've visited Stockholm twice in the last couple of years, and have attempted to speak Swedish throughout. If I think about what I want to say in advance, I do seem to be able to make myself understood (I can check into a hotel, order drinks at the bar, ask what the weather's going to be like in the archipelago etc). Unfortunately , I'm very bad at actually understanding what people say in response, and when they go on to ask supplementary questions, I just freeze, shrug helplessly, and tend to fall back on 'Jag är engelsk'...
Grammaticall y, I do find it difficult to remember which preposition I need to use, and find word order tricky in complex sentences - but conversationa l Swedish is what I'd really like to focus on now.
I'm looking for somone who can offer lessons either out of work hours, or at the weekend.

I spoke Hungarian when I was little but slowly forgot it when I grew up. I understand it very fluently but have trouble replying in Hungarian. I know so many phrases and words in my head but when I try to speak it I get nervous. Not enough practice.
I know a few words and phrases in Polish, but I need lessons. Please contact me if you are a Polish speaker.

I have lived in Sweden and may return. But above all, it is just a personal thing with me since the Swedish society has much information about environmental issues that are only available in Swedish.
A lthough I work full time I am quite dedicated and right now I read and listen to Swedish every day and correspond via email in Swedish.

I am planning to move to Sweden in 2008/9. I love the country a great deal and have been 12 times. However I can write basic Swedish but would love to learn this language fluently.
I am a quick learner and will pay the going rate to learn this great language. I am based in Bristol but if your based in London and provide email/phone conversation then I'm happy to do that and also meet once or twice a month.
