My name is Ryan Mehan. I took one semester of Mandarin Chinese a couple years ago, but aside from watching quite a few Chinese movies and reading a handful of books, that is the extent of my studies, which means that I am very much a beginner. My interest in this language is both personal and professional. I hope to travel all over China some day, maybe even live there. I know too that there are
Chinese speaking communities throughout Asia and all over the world. On a more serious note, I am currently a medical worker for the Navy and I hope to become a nurse back in San Francisco some day. Knowing Mandarin will greatly help my career both in and out of the military.

My daughter who is homeschooled is currently taking Mandarin Chinese via a software program called Rosetta Stone. She has been studying the language now for four months. Prior to this, she studied Latin for several years.
I believe Mandarin Chinese to be one of the most important languagues to learn in our lifetime.

I am interested in learning Arabic and Chinese. I am currently taking classes in Spanish through college. My german is enough to get around the country and was my first language but have forgotten it since living in the US. I am wanting to learn more languages because they interest me, possibly teach my daughter, so we can travel to different areas, and also career advancement.
