Hello, my name is Erica Gonzalez. I am interested in learning Japanese because I plan on interning there next year for culinary. I am a beginner and I have only learned basic approachable words such as hello, thank you, my name is, and goodnight. I have very basic beginning proficiency in the Russian Language. I am familiar with the alphabet, can 'sound out' and recognize some words, and can recognize some words in conversation. I am learning Russian because I plan to travel there in December. I need improvement in all areas and am willing to dedicate as much time as necessary to become conversationa lly fluent by that time. | Description |
We have openings for two Dari language instructors in the Washington, DC area to provide basic, intermediate and advanced Dari language instruction to U.S. government and other personnel. The instructors will also assist with the evaluation of students and academic counseling. These are full time, temporary positions starting April 6, 2009, and continuing through July 10, 2009. An extension of this period is possible.
The required experience includes:
* Three years experience teaching Dari to adults.
* Native fluency in the required language.
* Fully knowledgeable of the target culture and current usage of the language.
* Solid experience in language education and methodology and adult education.
* Extensive experience preparing and presenting language platform instruction within a learning center environment.
* A degree in the language, teaching methodology or a related field; or comparable directly-rela ted work experience is a definite plus.
* Must have authorization to work in the U.S.
* U.S. citizenship not required.
* Security clearance is not required but will instructors must complete a Public Trust form.
