I am new to the mandarin language, but i am a 3rd year french student, and am eager to learn multiple languages to further advance my career in journalism, business, and linguist studies. I would love 3-4 days a week of 3hr. or so lessons, wanting to immerse myself as much as possible and learn the language as quickly and efficiently as possible. I want a very educated teacher, one whom knows all about china, not just the language. A am looking for a tutor who is patient, but firm and very solid in their teaching style, while being able to speak freely about the culture.

I have just returned from living in Jiangxi Province in China for a year while I was teaching English. I had hoped to learn more Mandarin while there, but can only speak basic conversationa l/survival, which is quickly disappearing now that I am home. I am little beyond beginner.
I am learning for possible career advancement and personal interest.
I need help in all areas. I understand basic sentence structure and grammar, but still can improve. I would like a focus on oral conversation, but also some characters.
I am interested in possibly meeting twice a week for lessons.
I would prefer a native Mandarin speaker and would like to meet in person for classes. Most places within the Washington, DC area are ok for classes.
