I have been in China for one year, I know a little therefore but should be considered a beginner.
I am learning Chinese because I enjoy living and working in China and feel it would enhance my experience. It would also open possibilities for the future.
I am looking to study 2-3 hours a week.
I am looking for a teachers who speaks predominantly Chinese to me, who is quite strict in setting a workload and reviewing past work. A teacherwho can get my conversationa l skills to an acceptible level quickly, and who adapts lessons to my needs/weaknes ses.

I am interested in learning Mandarin and possibly Cantonese. I am a business man and work overseas often. I know a little chinese from my trips.. but nothing to great.
I would like to become fluent in the languange because i would like to live in china in the future.
I would like to realize the cost of lessons 2-3 times a week.. possibly at my office... 1 hour sessions.
I would like a teacher with previous teaching experiance with americans, and someone who is understanding and creative. I prefer female teachers and relate better with them.

Though I've spent a little time in China and attend a Chinese church, my Chinese is still very much at the basic level. Why do I want to learn Chinese and Japanese?
Studying other languages and learning about world culture is a huge passion of mine. Last summer, I lived in Japan for about 2 months (on a foreign exchange program). I was lucky enough to have the experience of everyday life and learning with a family in Japan.
This year, I will be going on another full year exchange program to Taiwan. I am very excited to learn more about Chinese culture, with a Chinese family, and I am interested in learning how to speak Mandarin (starting now, before I get there...)
My proficiency level:
I am a beginner in Mandarin Chinese. I know I still have lots of work to do!
My foreign language experience:
I have been studying Japanese for just about two years.
I had studied Spanish in school for over five years.
How much time do I want to dedicate:
A lot! A little on my own everyday, and at least once or twice a week (which would be awesome) with a teacher. I really want to delve into Mandarin as much as I can before I will be travelling there this fall...
Wh at qualities am I looking for:
A person who really would like to teach Mandarin! (haha) A person who would share some fun conversationa l skills, and useful tips, along with the 'chapter'. A person who likes to be versatile with learning, and have fun! :)
