Interested in face-to-face instruction at the beginning level for conversationa l Mandarin Chinese for the purposes of personal enrichment and the possiblity of travel to China. Requested location for lessons is in a private residence for two, possibly three adult learners. We are flexible regarding time dedicated to language lessons and request recommendatio ns from the instructor regarding typical length of each lesson, frequency of lessons, and total duration of a beginner's language course. We prefer availability during weekdays in the morning, perhaps around 10:30 or 11:00am. Otherwise, the main quality we are looking for in an instructor is to be able to understand their English if they are a native Chinese teacher.

Summary: I am looking to learn Mandarin Chinese from an enthusiastic teacher who can help me make real progress and lay the foundations for me to communicate effectively in Chinese.
L evel: Beginner – I have never learnt Chinese before
Reaso ns: career advancement and personal interest: I would very much like to live and work in Shanghai or Hong Kong and I am used to speaking the language of my host country after having lived and worked throughout Europe.
Fo cus Areas: I would like to concentrate on learning to speak as I am generally better at speaking foreign languages than writing them.
Time : I have taken a month’s holiday in April and so initially for 3 week period 9th April to 29th April; I would like to have 3 lessons of 1 – 1.5 hours a week. From 30th April onwards I would like to have one 1-1.5 hours tutoring a week with home work to do outside of lessons.
