I studied Mandarin from Nursery till I was in high school. Unfortunately , it was all memorization and I can barely remember anything. I plan to travel to Beijing and take up a six month course there, but I would like to be able to have a basic knowledge of the language before that.
I want to brush up on my mandarin because I feel that it would help me in my career in the long run. I'd like to start first with conversationa l mandarin and work my way from there.
I'm usually free to work on my languages at night or on weekends.
I think it's important that my teacher be likeable and patient with me.

I have been studying Mandarin in Taiwan/China for the past two years. I guess I would be considered an intermediate Mandarin speaker. I have text books which I would like to review along with conversation practice with emphasis on expanding my vocabulary. One on one classes are good, but I'm also open to group classes with people who are at the same level.

Dear future tutor,
I live in Johannesburg and want to move to Beijing in 2008. I was taught Chinese for 2 years, but this was not intensive, and it has been a while ago. In Beijing I want to study Chinese so I want to gather some knowledge of the language. I cannot study at Wits because this is quite intensive and therefore above my budget.
