I work as a professor of Sociology and as a researcher in the university. I need English in order to do my work in a better way (as time goes on, I have more contacts abroad, and English is the language we use).
My level is intermediate, I think. I don´t have much problem when I read academic books about the topics I`m interested in (subjectivity , social psychology, enviromentali sm, the sociocultural dimension of the human psyche, social change and identity...). I have more problems with listening and conversation in everyday English. Also with the grammar, of course. But I spent a lot of years learning English in a classical way, since I was 13 years old (although the last 10 years I don´t do anything).
These days I am spending four months in Portland, from final august to december 21. I´ll attend some classes in the university in order to improve my English. Anyway, I think it would be great to receive some English classes apart from that, about 6 hours for example.
The qualities I am looking for my lessons are not strange: above all, to be patient and proactive in helping me to improve my English.
