I'm an international development studies student, majoring in politics and economics. I see mandarin as a very usefull skill in the global economic field that i hope to work in. secondly i spent a year in china and loved the culture and language. i ahve a basic understanding and basic conversation skills...i understand tones and have been told my pronunciation is quite good. I have little to no reading/writi ng skills, so this will need somework but i'm more interested in oral as i feel reading and writing would be easier to learn on ones own, while spoken i think requires a live teacher.

I was an intermediate level Chinese Mandarin student who has not used the language in over a year. I would like to increase my proficiency level in order to meet career goals within my current job. In order to do so, I feel I would need to improve my conversationa l ability and grammar skills. I would be able to devote a maximum of 4 hours face-to-face time, and several more hours self-study time per week. My instructor must have a sense of humor and patience to deal with my many questions!
