I'm still a beginner.
I want to learn chinese, mandarin for career advancement. Since I work in bank and at the same time a businesswoman , I think learning this language would help me a lot in the fields I chose since I mingle with different people everyday. Speaking Chinese would be a big help for me especially when I have transactions with Chinese people who don't know how to speak our universal language - English.
I think I need to learn everything from the start - basic words to sentences, the pronounciatio ns/grammars in uttering words in conversations . I really mean it when I say from the start.
I'm free from monday to friday 7pm to 10pm and saturday-sund ay 9am to 10pm. (I can compromise with the teacher's schedule)
I really want to learn Chinese so I want a teacher that is patient and very understanding . From my part, I'm also willing to cooperate and show interest in the lessons presented. In short, I'll do my best to learn the language as fast as I could.

I have started learning Mandarin by myself and I know a little grammar and vocabulary. However, my pronunciation is very poor so I am looking for a teacher who can help me learn to pronounce Mandarin correctly. I need a teacher who can show me how to make the sounds correctly. This is my main priority. I also want to practise speaking but want to get the basics right first. I want to practice for two hours during the weekend. Either Saturday or Sunday would probably be ok.

Just a quick description - I am looking to learn mandarin - which I currently have only learnt to a very very basic level from friends and a trip to China in 2006. I want to learn to eventually become proficient to a conversationa l level, and initially, understanding characters is not so important as listening and speaking. I am a medical student and can currently commit a couple of hours every week to learning, although I hope to commit much longer once I transfer to a less intensive attachment!!
