I would like to learn Irish Gaelic because it is the language of my ancestors and I just love the Gaelic culture and music. I have been trying to learn a little on my own but I am basically a beginner. I would like to mainly be able to speak it and understand the grammar behind the most difficult aspects (lenitions and mutations are confusing to me still). Since, it is summer at the moment I have plenty of time to learn and I really really want to learn the language. As for teachers, I definitely need someone patient who can explain concepts clearly to me. More specifically, I want to learn the Ulster dialect since my family came from what is now Northern Ireland so I need a teacher from the North of Ireland.

I want to learn Irish because my family is Irish, but nobody knows the language. I am also a Linguistics major, and would love to learn Irish, because it's such a beautiful language. I am a beginner, basic introductions and pronunciation down. I want to try and see when classes are being offered and what they cost, as I go to school at UMD. I am looking for a semi-hard class with a challenging learning environment. I learn best from books / live instruction, and not mote memorization. Go raibh maith agat!
