Originally the idea came from my 8yr old son. He wants to learn Chinese. My children go to school with all different nationalities , so this is probably where the idea originated. I would like to learn the language primarily because I want to know what my child is saying to me. Secondary reason is for business, I am a librarian.
We will need instruction from a beginner level. We can neither commit alot of time or money to the endeavor. My children go to the library after school so the instruction for them would take place there. I work at a different library, in the same neighborhood, so my instruction would take place there. We can only dedicate an hour twice a week, Monday and Wednesday evenings.
We are looking for an instructor that has alot of patience,comp assion and dedication. We want to learn the language to fluency, not just for basic conversation. So depending on fee this will be a long term commitment for us.

Hi,
I took about one year of Mandarin classes, 2 years ago (3-6 hours a week) in Montreal University and I did travel in China for 2 months.
I am learning Chinese because i would like to go back to China.
I would like to improve both my chinese conversation and writing.
each week, i would be able to meet up once (after 6-7 pm or on the weekend)
I am looking for a teacher that is a mandarin native speaker.

Hello,
My name is Joe Arb. I am a 26 year old who is looking for career advancement as well as cultural exposure for personal self fulfillment. My interest has turned to the growing country of China. I am intrigued by the culture as well as their rapidly expanding economy.
C urrently, I am in the field of wind energy development. As China's energy demands skyrocket, I see opportunity for a person such as myself to take part in ensuring that their growth is done in an environmental ly responsible way. Not to mention, I simply want to travel and see the world, without being a nuisance to my hosts.
I would very much be a beginner. I would be interested in courses that were in class and/or over the internet. In general, I think I just need some sort of structure to keep my learning moving forward. Hence, I am contacting you rather than buying a 'do-it-yourse lf' book.
