-I have never studied Mandarin before, so I am a beginner for sure.
-The reason I have decided to learn Mandarin is because I am going to be travelling to China in a few months and I would like to be able to speak the language when I go. My aunt and uncle have adopted a little girl from China three years ago and they are adopting another, and I will be going with them to China. I will be the god-mother to both of the little girls and I feel it is important to learn their native language. Katrina, age 4 is already in classes where they live to learn the language.
-I am looking for someone with patience, as I understand it is a difficult language. I would also like to learn about the culture.

I am an absolute beginner. I have learned Russian and a little bit of several other languages. I am not great at it. I am a high school English teacher. I woud like to study the culture and language on a regular, systematic basis (and have it be fun too!) I will study if given a book or books too - and do my homework!
I live in North Hollywood and teach in Eagle Rock - either would work for me to meet.
