I am currently learning Mandarin Chinese informally, through self study and in the workplace, where I work with several Mandarin speaking people. I am fluent in spoken Cantonese and English, and am reasonably able to converse in basic/simple Mandarin. I want to learn Mandarin because it would help with communication with my coworkers, and also if/when I travel in Asia.
I would mainly like to improve my spoken ability, in terms of conversation, accent, etc.
I am a student, in the Honours BBA program at Wilfrid Laurier University. During the summer months I would be able to commit some time (1 hr/day) to learn this language.
I would like my teacher to be a native Mandarin speaker, who is experienced and an effective teacher. Also, he/she should be comfortable teaching both one-on-one and a group, because I may have friends who would also like to take lessons with me.
