Good afternoon,
I 'm interested in undertaking Spanish language courses for personal enjoyment. I'm simply looking for a bit of mental exercise and undertaking foreign language study sounds perfect.
I studied Spanish for three years in high school and another six months at University. Unfortunately , since then I have had few opportunities to use my Spanish and to say I am 'rusty' would be an understatemen t.
I've looked at the websites for language schools in the Brisbane area, but as my language skills do not easily fall into the categories of 'beginner', 'intermediate ' or 'advanced' I thought I might be a good candidate for independent or small group lessons.
I'm not sure what areas of study I need to focus on. I know my Spanish vocabulary is poor and my verb conjugation is woeful. But one of the first things I would be looking for from an instructor would be some guidance as to where to focus my study.
Initially I would be interested in one or two lessons a week for six to eight weeks. I would expect to put in one to two hours of study on my own for each hour I spend at a lesson. Also, as I work in the city I would be interested in lessons from 4-5 (or 6pm) during the week.
In terms of qualities of a teacher, as mentioned before, I'm looking for someone who can diagnose learning needs. Also, because I'm planning to undertake study for the simple enjoyment of it I'm looking for an instructor who is fun and energetic.
