I am looking to learn Thai as I am going to Thailand in September 2011 for a month to teach English to rural children; therefore, I wish to know some Thai to be able to understand the native people in the country. My fiancee is also looking to learn Thai as we are planning to move to Thailand in the near future.
I have no proficiency in the language and, thus, I am a complete beginner.
I am quite open to suggestions on a time frame for lessons.
T he qualities I am looking for in a teacher is someone who is very patient as I am hard of hearing and may struggle to begin with; someone who is willing to put the time in to teach me and my fiancee the language. I would need to have the lessons at the weekend due to geographical and work constraints.

I AM LEARNING ITALIAN SIMPLY BECAUSE I LOVE LANGUAGES. I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN ITALY AND HAVE BEEN LEARING ITALIAN AT LEVEL 3 AT THE LOCAL ADULT EDUCATION CENTRE.I JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO CONVERSE IN ITALIAN FLUENTLY. I WOULD IDEALLY LIKE TO DO 2 SESSIONS PER WEEK OF AN HOUR TO AN HOUR AND A HALF WITH A SMALL GROUP OF AROUND 8 STUDENTS AT THE SAME LEVEL. I WOULD LIKE A TUTOR WHO IS GOOD AT IMPARTING KNOWLEDGE AND WHO HAS THE ABILITY TO MAKE THE LESSONS FUN AND INTERACTIVE.

I am learning Greek because I am moving to Piraeus as part of my work in February 2011. I already speak Spanish and German and want the challenge of learning the local language in order to interact with real, local people. I have a job in which I have regular contsct with Eastern European people, most of whom are Polish. Tha language barrier can be a bit of a problem as I need to be assertivre in this post but find this difficult when people don;t know what I am saying. And I don't know what they arer trying to tell me.
I am a beginner.
I would like 60 to 120 minute lessons, however, I don't know how namy I would need so would discuss this with the tutor at the time.
