I studied Turkish at TOMER and used to have many opportunities to practice because a Turkish friend lived with us for 2 years. That was several years ago.
I lived for 6 months in Azerbaijan, as a Fulbright Scholar, and studied Azeri with a private tutor. When I left in June 2006, I was proficient enough to get by. I haven't had any chance to practice or study Azeri since.
I am interested in studying both languages, but would be likely to begin with Turkish since this is easier for me. I would like to return to both Turkey and Azerbaijan to conduct research. My area of research is environmental policy and remediation.
In the near future, I hope to spend about 2 hours per week in a lesson, plus additional time studying on my own. The amount of time I can committ to lessons will increase after May.
I am looking for a teacher who understands the structure of the language but who can also focus on conversation. I have the basics of the grammar -- I like grammar and am not afraid of it. It would be good if the teacher knew both Azeri and Turkish, but it is not necessary. I want to either meet in person for the lesson or conducted them via voice or video over the internet.

I would like to relocate to South America to help out in a bible education program. And need to learn Spanish to be able to get around. I would say I am at a beginner level. I have been trying to self teach myself, but have not had much success. I would love to dedicate 1-2 hours a week with a teacher, either once or twice a week for the next 3 months or however long the teacher sees fit.
If my teacher also knows French, I am open to the idea of learning 2 languages (spanish & french) at once?

Hello!
I've been teaching myself Japanese for roughly a year now, but I feel that taking language lessons might facilitate my learning, not to mention make it more interesting (books and software get a bit tedious after a while).
As far as specifics regarding my level go:
-I can read/write both kana and a very, very limited amount of kanji
-I know basic grammar
-My vocabulary is not too wide (probably around 300 words or so)
-I have no issues with pronunciation
I should probably mention that I've been looking into the possibilities of going on exchange to Japan with AFS, and would be particularly interested in taking lessons from someone who has had some sort of experience with that (whether as an exchange student themselves or as a host), simply because it might help for me to be aware of the problems (fluency wise) I may encounter while abroad.
Last but not least, since I am in high school, meeting once or twice a week in the late afternoon (anything after 3:30 pm) is really the only option I have.
