I have lived, studied, and worked in Japan for many years. My proficiency level in Japanese is advanced. I will be in Akita, Japan, for about a week in late May/early June 2010. I'm looking for a private tutor to work with me for ~2 hours each morning and 2 hours each afternoon. I would like to read from Yuki Guni by Kawabata Yasunari and Ningen no Jouken by Gomikawa Junpei.
Pl ease let me know if there is anyone in Akita, Japan, who could help me.
If you are aware of any private Japanese tutors in or near Princeton, New Jersey, please let me know about them too.

I have been studying Japanese for 3 years now and am looking to continue my lessons, either with a private tutor or in a class.
I have a serious interest in learning this language (speaking, reading and writing) as I would like to complete all JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) exams.
My preference would be to work towards these tests, starting at level 4.
I would like to have classes once or twice a week, and already own several books and dictionaries. I am also already fluent in Hiragana and Katakana and have been working on basic Kanji already. Main areas to improve would be conversation and grammar.
Ide ally I am looking for a teacher with a Japanese background.

i would like to learn japanese becasue i like japan hahaha really i hope to go there an learn more about it, so ofcourse i would like to be able to understand and communicate when i go. i think my proficiency level is some where between beginner-inte rmediate. i feel i need to learn more about actually talking while using the japanese language and also learn more so i can properly put more complicated sentences together. right now i would like to put atleast 2 hours a day towards learning or as much as mu budget can allow. when looking for a teacher i would like that person to be able to explain what they are trying to teach me clearly without being frustrated. someone who can also teach in a productive way without wasting any time.

I recently switched majors, from physics to East Asian Languages & Cultures. I have some familiarity and/or training with Japanese culture, Chinese and Japanese history,but suffer greatly in the Japanese language, particularly with remembering proper use of particles, variations of Verb and Adjective forms beyond the beginner levels, and with remembering the furigana associated with kanji.
While in school Monday-Friday , my course schedule is rather slapdash so there should be days where large blocks of time exist for transport & study.
Wha t a Teacher should know about me: I have no pets, brothers or sisters. My parents were divorced at my birth so I do not have a 'father'. I don't smoke, don't drink coffee, tea, or alcohol. I've also never lived anywhere more than 2 years so calling a place 'home' is alien to me. All of these points consistently trip me up and lead to frustration during language courses where lessons focus on domestic issues.
