I am a beginner, I only know a little Japanese. I am a writer, and hope to have my new book translated into Japanese. I would like to be able to speak the language so that when I go to Japan I will be able to speak with my friends, and my readers. I am willing to dedicate as much time as is needed. I would also like to be able to read in Japanese, and be able to write it too. I know, for me, I will be able to learn better if I can learn from someone face-to-face in a one-on-one setting. I took 3 years of Japanese in high school. I have forgotten a lot but I still have all my notes and am currently relearning. I am familiar with sentence structure and can read hiragana. I am looking for help relearning and to learn more. I am eager to improve my skills in speaking Japanese. I would have to say that I am still very much a beginner.
I am trying to learn Japanese because I want to go to Japan within the next 5 or 6 years and I want to be able to communicate well with the people there. I am also wanting to learn for job-related purposes. I also love the language and culture of Japan.
I get 2 days off a week from work and I am more then willing to study whenever else I can.
As far as what I'm looking for in a teacher. I am looking for someone who can speak the language well and can help with everything from vocabulary and grammar to how to speak a regular conversation.
