I will be studying at the American University in Cairo starting in August of 2005. I am currently a student at Northwestern University which is located outside of Chicago. I have never studied Arabic, and I am looking for a tutor for the summer of 2005. Although that is far away, I would like to explore all my options now. I would be willing to learn on a daily basis during the summer as an intensive preparation for my time abroad in Cairo.
I am looking to really master conversationa l Egyptian Arabic, but also to get a beginning level in the written language. I am very eager to get some basis in the language before I move there to study. I am looking for a teacher who is patient, but who will also challenge me.

I only know a few words in Japanese. I've been attempting to teach myself, but it has proven to be harder than I thought. I'm interested in learning Japanese because I am very interested in their culture. I hope one day I can visit Japan, and if I do, I would like to know the language to so I could get around. I want to learn Swahili b/c I plan to do a lot of work in East Africa as a missionary. I only know a few words right now. As for as the amount of time I could dedicate, it would depend on both of our schedules at the time. It would also depend if it was in person (which I prefer) of via email,phone,v ideo etc.... I'm looking for a teacher who can speak with a native accent and can teach me how to effectivly speak to the natives.
