I am about to complete my third year of living in Afghanistan. I want immersion training in Pashto upon my return to the U.S. in preparation for the Defense Language Proficiency Test. I currently have a vocabulary of approximately 2000 words and phrases and I'm beginning to conjugate verbs. However, I must admit that the Afghans understand my Pashto better than I understand theirs.
